The Sierra College Foundation is proud to present the seventh season of Chamber Music Alive!
Chamber Music Alive is a three concert series held at 2 venues; one in Sacramento and one in Rocklin at Sierra College. All three programs this season will have the continuity of featuring at least one work by Beethoven. Over the years we have been rather spare in the presentation of works by this most well-known artist, so this is the year to make up for that. After all, Beethoven is arguably the most popular of all composers—his music always inspires and uplifts......and we can all use that!
This dazzling season begins in October. Subscribe for the season now!
We will also be hosting a Season Premiere Fundraising Gala (not included in series subscription) again this year to support the continued excellence of Chamber Music Alive! It will be held after the first concert of the season in Loomis at the Conservatory at the High Hand Nursery Café. Join us for an enchanting evening in this beautiful setting which will include cocktails and dinner.
Concert One
October 3 & 4, 2009
Our first set of concerts will feature Beethoven’s String Quartet, opus 18, #4. In addition, we will perform various works by the great Argentinian tango composer Piazzola and the beloved Czech composer Dvorak. Among our performing musicians will be the superb violist Sharon Wei and audience favorite, pianist Natsuki Fukasawa and renowned cellist Ani Aznavoorian.
Concert Two
January 30 & 31, 2010
The second set of concerts on January 30 and 31 will include Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in F Major (“Spring”), Mozart’s String Quintet in G minor, and Mendelssohn’s Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello in D minor.
Concert Three
April 17 & 18, 2010
Our third set of concerts, scheduled for April 17 and 18, will be, as promised, a full orchestral program, featuring the Virtuosi Orchestra – the same group of musicians who performed to such great acclaim in the opening concert of last season. This will be an all-Beethoven program, one I know you will enjoy immensely.
