To the Students of Sierra College

Updates from the ASSC President

President Chris RandlemanI would like to start off by welcoming back returning students as well as those who are becoming a wolverine for the first time. As the school year, begins, we all take a step into uncharted territory for public education in the state of California. With increased fees not only for us at the community college level, but for the UC and CSU systems as well, this year will be nothing like we have ever seen before.

Here at Sierra College, we are preparing at all levels to insure that as many students can be served as possible. However, we are expecting to take substantial budget cuts from Sacramento leaving us with limited options. That’s the bad news. The good news is that you happen to be students at an above average college; rest assured that our best efforts are being made to insure your education will remain secure.

With the start of a new year students have a chance to get involved beyond just attending class. Becoming active in student leadership, clubs, and other campus activities is a great way to become part of the campus culture. If this sounds interesting to you please stop in and see Carol or any of the Student Senators in the Campus Life Office located on the Rocklin campus.

I will update this message once a month in an effort to keep students up to date on all that is going on around the college. As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Let’s have a great semester!

Sincerely,

Chris Randleman
