Four main types of financial aid programs are available:
- Grants:
- Federal or State gift assistance with no obligation for work or repayment.
- Scholarships:
- Gift assistance with no obligation for work or repayment.
- Loans:
- Providing funds now, but with a future repayment obligation.
- Work-Study:

Financial assistance is a resource designed to supplement the cost of education, and is not intended to be used as a student’s sole means of income. The types and amounts of aid Sierra awards or recommends are subject to availability of funds, enrollment status, and financial need.
